MEN’S NIGHT with Dallas Harema
Join us for an evening of top-notch burgers, craft beer and good conversation.
After dinner, guest speaker Dallas Harema will share some thoughts on mental wellbeing for men: “How your inner man determines the health of your life”. He’ll tackle:
– adjusting through different phases in life
– embracing your strengths – and your limitations
– taking your emotions (and thoughts) seriously
– the power of vulnerability in friendship
– the importance of rest
Secure your place by transferring $20 to 38-9019-0330772-00. Limited seats available!
Dallas Harema is a Southern man hailing from the metropolis of Invercargill (don’t switch off!) and he also has roots in the Hokianga (Northland) and Crieff (Scotland). He is deeply motivated to see people living full and authentic lives within themselves while maintaining healthy and thriving relationships with others. Dallas holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences along with a PG. Dip in Counselling as well as some other bits of paper. He has worked in various roles within multi-disciplinary teams in the mental health and justice sectors, and is also an accredited Strengthsfinder coach (Strengthsfinder) which affords him the joy of helping people to discover who they are and how they can focus on their personal wiring in order to thrive in life.
With a relaxed yet passionate and transparently honest style Dallas likes to encourage, challenge, uproot and provoke men’s understanding and views of what good (and not so good) mental and emotional health looks like in the context of everyday living, roles and relationships. He doesn’t claim to be an expert and know all things (although his ego at times would like to think he does) but he does come with over 15 years of experience in the wellbeing field and enjoys inviting audiences to keep it real! When he’s not being a ‘deep guy’ he plays many sports (he’s quite competitive), enjoys snowboarding, has too many books on the go at once, dislikes turnips (it’s a hang over from growing up in the South) and froths on travelling the world!
At the mo Dallas lives in Christchurch (but is not one-eyed, in fact, he supports anyone playing against Canterbury!) and works as an Events and Relationship Manager in the Youth Sector. He’s been married to Lucy for 5 years (proposing to her in a ‘flash mob’ at a buskers festival), and is a father of two boys (Barnaby and Wilbur). Random facts: He lived in a bomb shelter in Israel for over half a year learning Hebrew, and whilst attending a private function at the Royal Imperial Palace Gardens in Japan he invited the Crown Prince to go camping with him (to this day this has not yet happened?!).
