Budding out of the hope series comes a conversation about the best practices that lead to life. Breaking the idea of “best practice*” out from its cubicle container into the open air of life:
What are the best practices to live life to the fullest?
Sound big?
Don’t worry this is a series of the small practices, the disciplines, the things you build your life around that build us into the best people we can
be. Series starts August 1st.
Sundays, 5pm at Massey University

Peacemaker Experiement: Week One

Week One: Fight a small fire
The big aim of the Peacemaker Series is to let God’s healing flow through us into the broken and hurt parts of the world and the brokenness in our own lives. Often we are unaware of where the brokenness is in our own lives and in others. The first assignment is to take a little step to help bring wholeness in someone else or in you (essentially fight a small fire). A good place to start would be listening closely to those around you or just reflection. Here is some food for thought:
Is there something you have meant to do (for someone or yourself) for a long time but just haven’t carved out the time?
Is there a nagging in your gut about something you have wanted to say or do to make amends or rekindle a friendship?
Is there someone you feel you need to forgive?
Small fires are the little things that cause brokenness in us and our relationships. This is an experiment and so don’t feel the need to participate if you’re really not in the space. Experiments are made for discovery so please share you experience with us. You don’t have to share what you did or but maybe what you discovered along the way about the process or about humanity or God. Happy peace making!
The Peacemaker Experiement

The Peacemaker Experiment is a series of challenges aimed at inspiring us to engage in the acceptance and spreading of peace, which for us is rooted in the Hebrew concept of “Shalom” (meaning wholeness and fulfillment). In short it means growing in our own lives and helping those we share life with grow as well. Peace as a concept seems huge, a big blaze, but it isn’t bound to just fighting for peace in war torn counties (which is a good thing I might add) but also challenges us to bring wholeness to all various aspects of life. Shalom reaches to the ends of the universe and to the very small interactions with your neighbour.
So the experiment builds off this idea of Shalom and seeks to meet us right where we’re at. The experiment may seem insignificant or pointless but it is a radical challenge for us to find the significance of giving ourselves to the seemingly insignificant. Hopefully we will be empowered from the little battles to eventually move into the more major conflicts…baby steps.
The difficulty to see the potential in the world around us often needs first battled in front of the mirror. You may want to begin by taking stock of yourself.
Where are you or have you experienced healing and growth?
Another way of thinking; how are you wealthy? (Think outside just monetary. In what area of your life do you feel you have been given something you could share? Maybe ask a close friend to offer their take on your skills and potential.)
Each week we will posting a new stage in the experiement for you to participate in. Read the post, take up the challenge and post your experience under the comments section to share what you discover. Once you have done that, maybe you can invite someone else to join you.
Looking forward to learning what you have to say.

We have just finished our first series at our new Sunday venue, New Crossways Community Centre, 6 Roxburgh St, Mt Vic. Our first series looked at our five core values which, for the Mosaic community, are both aspirational and foundational. Our next series begins this week and looks at the DNA of our community. Or in others words, this series will look at the three aspects that shape Mosaic’s vision, values, and mission. Our DNA is FAITH. HOPE. LOVE.
Join us on Sunday @ Crossways from 5pm for stories, food and conversation.
